NANGARHAR: International umpire Bismillah Jan Shinwari was among those killed in a car bomb blast in Afghanistan yesterday.
A car bomb blast at the district governor’s office in Nangarhar killed 15 people, according to the International News Agency. An Afghan Cricket Board vehicle was also hit in the blast.

The car was carrying Bismillah Jan Shinwari, Afghanistan’s umpire for international matches, who was critically injured in the blast and died during treatment.
Bismillah Jan Shinwari made his debut on December 7, 2017 and officiated the last match in March 2020. He officiated in 6 ODIs and 6 T20s.

It may be mentioned that 15 people were killed and more than 30 were injured in a car bomb blast in Nangarhar yesterday. Among those killed were 7 civilians. The death of umpire Bismillah Jan Shinwari in the blast was later confirmed.
